How to play color nonograms
Fill cells with A or B so every row and column matches its clues. Each clue gives a group’s length and color. Read rows from left to right and columns from top to bottom.
Different colors may touch
The clues 2A 2B fill this four-cell row exactly:
Same-color groups need a gap
1A 2A means two separate groups. Leave at least one empty cell between them:
The order and exact lengths must match both sets of clues. An empty cell may stay unmarked; × is an optional note. The puzzle finishes when all colored groups match.
Your first puzzle
Start with a clue that fills its whole row or column. For example, 4A on a four-cell row makes every cell A. Then check where those cells meet the column clues.
Tintweft has 24 original puzzles: 12 at 4×4 and 12 at 5×5. Practice keeps a separate position for each size. Daily rotates through the same finite collection at midnight UTC, so boards repeat. Your open Daily stays on its saved date until you choose “Play today’s puzzle.”
Mark, correct, continue
Tap a cell to cycle A → B → × → clear. The A, B, Empty and Clear buttons set the selected cell directly; arrow buttons move the selection. A and B also have different patterns.
On the board, use arrow keys to move, A or B to color, X for empty, and C or Delete to clear. Enter or Space cycles a mark. U undoes inside the game. Tab moves to the other controls.
Hint checks the actual remaining arrangements. If a mark blocks the solution, it first offers to clear that mark. Nothing changes until you apply the hint. Undo reverses a move; Restart asks before clearing this puzzle. Continue in practice returns to your saved practice board. Next puzzle asks before leaving an unfinished attempt; it stays saved until the collection cycles back.
